Tennis Court Resurfacing

Tenecon Surfaces does produce coatings for Basketball, Netball, Volleyball and Tennis Court Surfaces.  However, it can be difficult to apply without plenty of previous experience.  The best way to apply these textured court paints is with a soft rubber squeegee. Professional Sport Surfacing contractors are best suited to repair cracks and low spots in the asphalt or concrete substrate, followed by ever-important cleaning and preparation.  Finally, the color coatings can be squeegee applied and the lines can be painted.

Money Well Spent When Resurfacing?

Since our Tenecon All Weather Surfaces are applied with a soft rubber squeegee, the coloured surface coatings tend to “wipe off” when the surface is old, smooth and polished. Active players and high traffic counts will speed up wear of the surfaces, this results in thinner surface layers that won’t last as long and definitely impacts how often the tennis court should be resurfaced. If this is known before resurfacing, talk to us and we can offer recommendations or prepare a custom scope of work tailored to your facility.  Extra coats may be recommended to extend the life of your tennis court surfaces.

Court Surface Protection

When you visit most schools and parks, many times you will notice signs posted on the fence where you enter the facility.  Here are a few items that are usually listed to prevent damage to court surfaces:

  • Use only non-marking tennis court shoes on the courts
  • No bikes, skateboards, or rolls skates on the surface
  • No chewing gum, food, or non-water drinks

Drainage & Positive Water Flow

Water can be one of the most damaging enemies to courts. Check from time to time to ensure that perimeter drains are not blocked by vegetation or plugged by other debris.  Maintain vegetation or grass around the edge of the court to make sure it is not creating a dam that can inhibit positive flow of water, draining off the court.  Protect the surface from any chemicals, weed killers, or fertilizers that may be used around the court.
